As Cindy Jefferies she has been writing fiction for children for a number of years and has been translated into over 20 languages. While at the moment this work is on hold due to her commitment to write a second work of fiction for adults, she says never say never. "Writing for children is such a privilege, because you have the opportunity to whisper into young ears that it is okay to feel sad, angry, uncertain or lost. The characters in a good book also feel those things, making reading a private world of exploration and reassurance. Discovering a book that resonates can be hugely helpful to a young mind. Almost everyone has a book read in childhood that has stayed with them through their lives. That is a huge responsibility, and while it should never get in the way of a great story, it is something I am aware of, and a responsibility that I take very seriously indeed."
